front driveshaft issues

I have a 1988 blazer d60 front axle crossover steer 14 bff with a 205 transfer case with an 8" suspension lift. The problem is not in the rear, the back driveshaft I had made at a local driveline shop. The front is were the problem is the angle is making the shaft bind. I've lowered the tranfer case, and being its a d60 I can not reangle the perches. Everyone has these great drive shafts but for $800 + shipping if your on a budget has anyone heard of lowering the motor to save some coin, I have the equipment and the ability but does this idea sound crazy. thank you
 
You can cut and turn a D60. Its just much harder than a D44.
Have you tried to grind off the little tabs on the CV joint side?
 
You just need to "clearance" the stops on the driveshaft. The front shafts on this style bind with only 4" of lift. I'm running a 6" spring up front and i've "clearanced" the front CV of the driveshaft and now it's fine.
 
First, dropping the transfer case is making your front driveshaft angle worse. Get rid of the t-case drop.

If you are using the stock front driveshaft you can grind it to allow more angle.

You can also use shims under the springs, but on a D60 you need to put a shim on top of the passenger spring too (to keep the spring plate flat). Realize that shimming the axle up changes the caster on the front end and will affect driveability.
 
Yes I've ground the tabs, and how do you reangle the d60 if it has a fixed perch on 1 side unless i'm missing something thank you for the post

On that side you have to put a shim on the top and bottom of the spring pack, that keeps the spring plate flat.

Again, this will affect your caster and the way the truck drives on the road.
 
Ahhhh I see the light I get it thank you I will definitely try this out I just won't go so drastic with the approach thanks again, also is there much difference between running say a 1350 vs a 1410 to get more flex
 
Off the top of my head, 1410 can handle ~30 degrees and 1350 can do ~23 degrees.
