Front driveshaft question for an SM465/205 and Dana 60 with 6\" of lift

I never thought about how much shorter the SM465 was until I realized my Dana 60 had a longer center that moved the yoke farther back than the 10 bolt. On top of everything I added a 6" lift and am making the suspension capable of a lot of droop (maybe) I was thinking of ditching the new BDS springs for some 52's and moving the axle 2" foreward. Will I need the extra 2" or can I get away with a stock CV joint and a new tube for the stock shaft? I'm absolutely broke right now and just need something to work before winter is here. I'm sorry if my question makes no sense, I was just in a car with a broken exhaust and I think I have some fumes in me. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

you can run a stock CV. I was running that exact setup for the past few years with no problems. Just grind the "tabs" on the cv for a little more clearance.

I planned on grinding the tabs, thanks for the comforting words BurbBoy /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

IMO, you're never going to make it survive.

I only have 6" of lift with mine, and I bottomed out a 1 ton CV enough to make it blow its mind.

The stock saginaw CV is insufficient here IMO.
