I was just wondering what was involved in a front driveshaft rebuild the K5 i have doesnt currently a front driveshaft on it but i have one and got all the parts to rebuild it from the guy i bought the truck from. Is this somthing i could do my self or are some parts pressed in?

Whats broke??? the shaft itself or the U joints. If its the joints as long as you have a bench vice or a couple of sockets and a fairly large hammer you can get it done.

Your welcome. If you have a hanes or chiltons it will tell ya exactly how to do it. Large socket on one side so the caps can slide out, and small one on the other side so you can punch or press it through. I always have to do it the BFH way because my vice isn't big enough for the sockets I use :( Good luck :thumb:

thats what i have to rebuilld tomorrow a quick question though i need a new yoke and i want to replace all of my u joints in the front shaft as well, my qusetion being are they all the same size u joints and whats the approx price im in canada probaly be going to napa or maybe an industrial supply place. thanks
