I accidentally bumped my front drive shaft with my shoulder yesterday while looking at a leak in my tranny line, and it moved. someone please correct me if I am mistaken but my driveshaft shouldn't move. It moved in the area circled in the pic posted. Is this a potential problem?

just loose splines, it's just old and worn. i wouldn't worry about it since it isn't driving your truck. if it was a rear, might be different.

Ditto, you also might want to check to ensure that the dshaft has sufficient travel on compression - looks close to me.

mine is worse then that. but it isn't the main driveshaft is all i am saying. i don't imagine you're doing 50+ in 4wd.

This past winter I did 80 in 4high:D as for now no, maybe 25 or so up to the sites

I just packed the DS with grease and it removed the play. Apparently I should have greased it earlier because the movemnet in the shaft has now beveled out that cap that holds the grease in so it'll leak out of the cap. I wonder where I can get a replacement cap.

I was able to get the replacement dust cap and seal for the DS. I have removed the shaft from the front axle but cant get the front section that holds the dust cap apart from the rear section that goes to the transfer case? I need some help here.
