Ok, so my burb doesn't see much 4x4 time. That's no secret.

Last few times i've thrown it in 4hi in the snow though, the front drivers side pops intermittently under load.

Light load, no noise. Bury the throttle, and get an intermittent popping noise ever 1, 2, 3 seconds, etc.

Front ujoints were new when i put the axle in last year. Front drive shaft joints are good.

Have taken the front end / outer assembly apart multiple times since i first heard the noise, so doubt its a mis-assembly issue.

Any ideas?

:dunno: You may have a bad hub. Try switching them from driver to pass side and see if the other side starts popping.

Thats kinda what i was thinking, but thought it would be noticeable broken when i pulled it out.

That being said, it was summer when i disassembled it, so i didnt' specifically check it out.

I'm referring to the locking part of the hub

The hub itself is fine. Thousands upon thousands of miles on it without issues in 2wd at higher speeds than people on here want to hear about.

I know you said the u-joints were new a year ago & have limited use but I have heard bad u-joints or dry ones make a clicking sound before they grenade.

I used to have a truck that did the same thing. Never did figure it out.
