Front inner axles

The problem is I only have 1 set of inner shafts and I have no idea which axle they go too.

Measure the diameter, lengths and spline count, I can tell you if they are a 44 or 10b.

Ok, now for my next thing. I've had these axle shafts for a few yrs just sitting on a shelf. I have no idea which side is which. Any other idears.

Come on Jeff, short side is passenger side and the long one is the driver side.

D'oh I should of know it would of takin a smartass comment like that to remind me. I'm just tired as hell right now from all the OT at work that I wasn't thinking straight :doah:

Hey muddy can I fit 36" tires under my 4" lift without any other type of modifications?:p:

Yes you can, actually you can fit 36's with No lift and NO trimming with 17 hummer rims with 7" backspacing :thumb:

I'm not 100% sure on the front 10 bolts but i know for a fact that rear 10 bolts are 28 spline before 1989 and 30 spline from 1989 and on. With that said i'm pretty sure that all the front 10 bolts and D44's had the same spline count just a different length axle.

Never seen a D40 front axle before:D

Lot's of mis-information in the last couple of posts.

Front D44's in the Chevy trucks were always 30-spline inner shafts. The front 10-bolts were 28-spline until about '89 when they switched to 30-spline, but they were a different spline cut than the D44 and different overall length so they don't interchange.
