Well I am a tech. ed major and one of my final classes is senior design, in which we can build anything we want, and then of course write a paper on it. I have always wanted the blazen off-road style bumper and ord style bumper. I took many influences from tons of bumpers on here and build myself a set of bumpers and tire carrier.

The first order of business was to get myself a tubing bender. I have limited space in my garage, so I went over my choices and decided on building the gottrikes.com air over hydrolic ram tubing bender.

Next step,,, figure how how the hell to actually bend tubing! This was very tricky and im still learning a lot. Another difficult thing is notching tubing w/ an angle grinder.

This whole build from the tubing bender to bumpers was built with my bandsaw, 4" angle grinder and Miller 180 welder, and time.. so much time I was angry by the end just wishing it was done! Enough talk here are the bumpers!

So there is my front bumper! let me add in the rear bumper tire carrier next!!

The rear bumper was my next project! I wanted to protect my sheet metal, and also carry a spare tire. I realy like the swing down idea and called up diy4x and got a set of fabricator's bushing sets.

This was very tricky trying to figure out all the compound notches and bends!

The shallow notches on the bottom... IMPOSSIBLE with an angle grinder.. they really pissed me off! but it worked out

There are a few things i would change! prob placement of the lower hinge but it will work for now!

HA!!!!!! sure send over about 1500bucks and wait a few months... oye having the right tools woulda made that a lot easier! i can kinda see why they are so much now!

lol, yep, the people that make them would be happy to hear you say that. Like myself in cabinetry, it's funny hearing people curse while doing a simple project.

nice work, and I think I've seen your blazer on youtube before. I remember the color scheme and kissmydiff.com videos

The first order of business was to get myself a tubing bender. I have limited space in my garage, so I went over my choices and decided on building the gottrikes.com air over hydrolic ram tubing bender.

Nice work! Any chance you'd share the tubing bender plans?

can we get more detail on the rear bumper? Or some day shots. ti love the design and I'm getting ready to start my rear bumber.

I will not share the plans, a guy makes em, sells him, he put his time into it! check it out

I can take more pictures on sunday! I work all weekend. What kinda angles u want? Also yes you've prob seen my truck on youtube w/ the kissmydiff videos!

sooo were do you get the dies from? what was your total cost to build it?

That bender is the same as the one I built and it takes the pro-tools die sets :thumb:

Cost me about $50 in steel as I already had a lot of it laying around.

The tubing bender build cost me about 500dollars when all said and done, about 120something in steel, then 260 for the die, then welding gas, cutting bits, and TIME, so much time drilling. It almost doesnt make sense to do unless u have limited space.

Thanks a lot guys for all the compliments!

Alright guys i have a question for some of you who have the blazen-offroad bumpers and other tire carriers. I used DIY4X bushings for my tire carrier bumper, it seems like the tire reallly likes to flop forward and back even with everything super tight, I believe i need to add tubing from the end of the body wrap around to the frame to help w/ the bumper flexing. Anyone have this problem of the whole bumper flexing?
