Here is my bolt-in front receiver tacked together

Here is a close up of the frame bracket - don't think it will go anywhere - (3) 5/8" bolts, a 1/2" bolt in the bottom, and another 1/2" bolt - which happens to be the outer bumper support in the center of the rivets.

Notice the notch I had to make around the rivet - thought seriously about cutting the rivet out and running a bolt through there - but will leave it for the time being...

would it be a good idea to make the receiver tube through the brossememebr so you can put longer receivers in it?

Good idea - but the only thing I will be running in the front is a WARN Multi-Mount - (which fits), a shackle stinger, or a blingin' aluminum bowtie - so no need.

Only other thing that possible comes to mind would be a bike rack of some kind - but that can go in the rear if necessary :waytogo:
 
Everything I've ever seen on the market has always been the same length of stinger. ONLY time I've ever seen a longer one is if it was custom made.
 
Where are you storing the winch until you need it?

Did you get the frame brackets plasma cut and bent or were you able to do that yourself? They look great.
 
I followed your link in your build thread. Man, thanks for posting those photos of the front hitch receiver and frame mounted shackles. I was searching all over for photos of how someone addressed mounting to that style frame. I plan on doing basically the same thing. My chrome bumper is so nice, i dont want to swap it for a hardcore welded steel one. Would you have a template for the mounting brackets that bolt to the frame? If so, that would help me out.

To be "super stealth" you can mount the crossmember between the framerails and then the receiver can be lined up directly behind the license plate...

Cut a rectangular access hole that is still completely covered by the plate when it's installed and then fabricate a simple license plate mount to a receiver tube. When you need a D-ring shackle, just pull the pin and slide out the license plate.... the rest of the time, your plate is installed and you're looking "stock" and street legal.

Plenty of options, but I'm with you guys. I like the look of a stock factory bumper over the aftermarket stuff. Someday I will rework a stock bumper and re-inforce it from the back side with stiffening ribs welded at the corners to prevent bending and twisting....do the center access hole for a hidden winch and then have the whole thing re-chromed for a factory look. I might even shave the mounting bolts for a cleaner look. :thinking:

One of these days I'll put together a small "catalog" of specialty parts for sale to the 1st Gen crowd. With such a limited market it would certainly be more of a labor-of-love than a big money making venture.

There are a bunch of products that everyone seems to want that nobody makes.... I've already started a list (in a secret notebook, locked in a safe, in an underground bunker). :D

I'm right there with you on this. My plan is to actually cut the center plate portion out of the bumper and reinforce around it and mount the plate to a swing down step. Seeing as the top of my core support should be at my eyebrows and I'm 6'3", I think I need something once this thing is back in one piece:haha:
