this is my first post here, just joined and upgraded membership to get the most out of this site, so my first question is what is the best bolt in seat replacement option for my 84 k5, thinking of hitting up the local wrecking yard and getting seats out 90"s model GM or equivalent, whatever is the right color and works, I want to stay with the high backs and keep the center console, any help would be appreciated

I saw that one and think it was a good job and have not ruled that one out, I was thinking about seat from a F body like a camero or firebird or a h body like a cavaleir sun bird or something, or maybe a jeep, has anybody tried them with using original bases from blazer?

Mid 90s seats from the GM trucks work good but left me needing more side bolstering. They were comfy and bolted in easily, using the new bases. I don't think anything "better" than OEM will bolt easily to the original brackets.

My 96 tahoe seats. Tahoe brackets bolted right to the floor.

2002 WRX seats with custom brackets welded to adapt to factory holes.

that dash looks wicked !! those 96 tahoe seats look like a good fit, hope I can find some in decent shape, I will be browsing at the bone yard next weekend

K85 that looks sweet. Did you need new bracketst for those Tahoe seats ? If so what brackets did you use ? Or did everything bolt right up ?

nothing but actual square body seats will bolt up
scratch that, I don't think the pick up seats work because of the fuel tanks
so maybe only blazer of similar floor plans and suburbans? lol

The tahoe seats do NOT bolt into stock location, not even close. But they can bolt through the floor with a little added support. I actually found (with a welder and a little steel frame) the WRX seats went in pretty easy.

I used seats out of a late 90's tohoe I found at the wrecking yard, got a good deal, were in good shape, and are fairly comfortable with the arm rest and still used my original console. as far as bolting them in there was a couple of holes that lined up but the rest I had to drill through the floorboard but was fairly easy. also on the botom of floor pan thier is a shield and I used a hole saw to make the hole bigger so I could get a small plate on the underside of floorboard for extra support.

I would definitely like some seats from a k5 but probably won't find them at the junk yard.
The only thing is I don't really want to be drilling holes in my floor board and then maybe puncturing one off my tanks. But I I sure it will work some how. How are those wrx seats
Is there space for a custom console ?

Yeah I think 90s trahoe is gonna be the ticket. There is tons at my junk yard. Do they have a different height then the bench seats? And is there room for a custom console ? Thanks for all the info guys it's really help full

the 90s seats are a great height and if you brace the floor a little will work well. Plenty of room for the stock center. I wouldn't know what a "custom center" measures :D

only reason I didn't keep mine....bolstering. The 90s seats have ZERO. The WRX seats have lots of side bolstering and at least some bottom. Has made staying in the seat during offroading much easier.

I have front seats, seats belts, center console and all the bolts and brackets. They are the same as the seats in my '88.

I have 97' leather Tahoe seats in mine. If you only use the seat and not the sliders, your current sliders will bolt right to the seat. If the seats are power and you don't want to use the power option then you just bolt to your sliders. If you want to use the power functions then you need the lower base/sliders and need to make some simple flat steel mounting plates. I made mine out of 4" x 3/8's plate, bolted to the original floor mounts but used flat head bolts countersunk up from the bottom for studs for the seat frames. Not as hard as it sounds and now I have really great power drivers seat w/ power lumbar for the passenger.
