Okay so ive been searching for a good hour here and i cant find any good pictures or whatnot...is front shackle angle the same as the back or is there is a different theory to it? Right now i have 6" lift springs up front and the stock shackle, without drivetrain in, the angle is pointed forward (maybe 30-40 degrees forward of vertical) and there is also very little clearance between the frame and leaf spring eye. If i were to switch to 6" shackles (to fix clearance to frame) and with weight do you think it would be okay?

Not really sure what kind of angle i am looking for?

To get a good shackle angle you would need to move the shackle mount forward like is done with 52" spring swap.

I dont have a very good picture of mine but here is what mine looks like...

Front shackle angle for best ride from what I can gather is either straight down, ie vertical, or slightly forward towards the front of the truck.

For most droop, leaned towards the rear of the truck. 20 degrees or so back best I can estimate.

so i may be okay then? ive driven it like it is and the front is a little rough but i always accredited that to stiff 6" lift springs...

Right now without weight my shackles point forward slightly, with weight they will be closer to vertical. Im also worried about how close it is to the frame...they are stock shackles, is that okay they are like within a 1/2" of the frame?

I run ORD slightly longer shackles on mine, but you can make them out of some steel pretty simply. What can happen is the spring eye can bottom out on the frame and be all bad. A 6in shackle will effect castor angle, not good. Plays havoc on steering.

You need to have all the weight on it before you determine whats what. I mean the motor, fluids, hood, ect. Whatever your going to run it like, it needs to be that before you start messing with shackle angle.

Yep, its not a race. I would get so far ahead of myself building mine I would have to cut new stuff off as it wouldnt work once I caught up. I cant even remove my oil pan on my BB from hurrying to fast and slapping stuff together. LOL Small problem, but a problem nevertheless that could have been avoided with proper care and paying attention to the task at hand.

I would not run the angle like that. It will give you one stiff ride.

mine sits about 20 degrees rearward of verticle and rides pretty good.i have ord shackle and oversize bolt kit for better strength and angle..it gives a 1/2 inch longer shackle to get the spring away from the frame and allow the spring to flex better.

Reads 64 degrees If you run straight up and down like mentioned before it will give you a "bottoming out" feeling. I cant explain why cause Im not smart enough lol

and that gives you a good ride? and you had to move the back mounting location?

Im running 52" springs in the front with homemade front hanger so I didn't have to move the rear shackle hanger.

Yes it rides really good.
