I need the width on the front shackles like the ones ORD, Kurt @ DIY4x sells. Trying to make my own. I figure 3/8 x 6" x ?. 4 1/2" centered bolt holes. Anyone know a measurement off the top of your head or get a measurement off some REAL ones.

They are not connected side to side so you don't need a width. Just drill 2 pieces of 3/8" plate with the same pattern and you have a shackle for 1 side. Do it again and you have it for both sides and your done.

I know the width will be determined by the spring & bushing width. Maybe I need to re-word my Question. My stock plates are about 1 9/16" wide I was wondering what the width of the "store bought" plates were.

Measure the spring eye bushing and add a little onto that number. I would guess 2" would probably work well. I am not at home otherwise I would measure my HD shackles for you.

Should have thought of that. The bushings right at 2" I'll go with that, Thanks for the wake up. I need to stop internet fabbing & go outside more.

Make it 2.25" then if they are right at 2" unless your 3/8" plate is already 2".

I found some new "friends" at a local race car shop who just happen to have a water jet. I love those guys already. Get out of jail free cards to everyone there.:D
