I finally got my exhaust re-routed and front shaft put back on after my lift. Even though it looks like it will still hit at full compression. :doah: Going to have to take the truck back to the exhaust shop. The guy was a pretty cool old timer, hopefully he will fix it with out too much hassle.

Looks like at full droop it should at least stay put together. Even after jumping on the axle, the drive shaft stayed engaged. Even if it was just barely.

The drive shaft shop wants over 600 bucks to make a long travel shaft. Is there anything i can do to make mine have more travel for cheap? I don't want a square drive shaft. I guess worst case I can run limit straps.

I currently have my sway bar always connected because I still have push pull steering. With my push-pull setup, I have more suspension travel than I do steering travel.

In the pictures, I still have about 2 more inches of shock travel, I suppose in theory, if I jumped the truck or something maybe the springs would droop more and the shaft would come apart. However, I am going to take it easy until I get this sorted out.

From full droop to full bump my driveshaft uses almost 6" total slip with the 11" of spring travel.

From static mine uses 2" for bump travel, and roughly 4" on droop.

Didn't you read my thread

:haha: yeah I read it :thumb:

You scored a sweet deal on a front shaft though. I was just trying to rig something up to get by. Plus you know how it is with these trucks; always have to double check measurements as they are all a bit different.

You could pull the shaft off at the axle and bring it up till it just hits. Consider whether or not the axle could even move that distance or if the bump stops would hit first. If you are going to redo the exhaust again, might I recommend under the oil pan in the front

Would a pair of straps or cables to limit suspension drop be undesireable?--that would keep any strain off the brake hoses also..

Why buy alsmost $1000 worth of custom springs that have 11"+ travel, and then limit the suspension travel so the stock driveshaft works :dunno:

I guess if you only want it for on road and mild wheeling it would be fine...

But then why not have spent half the money on some tuff country ez rides that prolly ride close to the same on road?

I already did that. I'm quite positive it will hit at about 2" from full compression. I am more worried about ideas for hacking together a long travel shaft on the cheap. As a band aid until I can plop down 600 for a custom shaft.

Exactly.

Limit straps would be last ditch effort as a band aid until I could throw down the cash on a long travel front shaft.

I think this conversation is irrelevant until you put crossover steering on...

Thats what I meant,a temporary crutch to get by till the driveshaft can be corrected...not a permanent solution..

Why no square shaft? Mine has worked awesome. Deuling will vouch for the fact that I have had that thing going way faster in 4wd than one ever should.

Yah that one works sweet. All I've every heard is they are loud and clunky... Rich's is not.
