id like to know if there were different front spring setups offered on 1986 k-10s.. i have a 2 leaf front pack with military wrap style ends.. they're stock as far as i know.. are the 2 leaf packs for v6 trucks? and was there a 3 leaf pack for v8s?? tia..

Not necessarily. I've seen literally thousands of K10's with both 2 and 3 leaf front springs and it didn't matter if they were 6 or 8 cylinder.

I had an '81 K10 SWB with a straight 6 and 465 and it had a 3 leaf front spring setup.

I know ALL K30's have 3 leaf setup for the added weight issues.

I believe the number of leaves were mainly depending on where and what the vehicle was built for. Could have been customer option, too.

well, judging from the option sheet, it was a 6 cylinder 4 spd truck with a govlock rear from the factory, now its got a 350 and the front springs ride about 2" from the bumpstops so it rides like crap.. i was just curious..
thanks..

I have the 6.2 and for some unknown reason I still have 2 leave packs...stupid I think. Arent deisels heavier then 454s?

here are the vehicles that i have/had i have yet to see a patern. all are v8s, both the k10s are heavy halfs /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
83 k10: 2 leafs 305 700r4
83 k20: 2 leafs 350 700r4
79 k10: 3 leafs 350 sm465
78 k5: 2 leafs 350 th350
85 k5: 3 leafs 305 sm465

now that i look at it i do see a patern, may not be correct but a pattern.
every vehicle i have that had 3 leafs had a 465 thatk30guy's k10 did also /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Not to shoot down your pattern, but my 87 and 88 K5's with 700R4's have the 3 leaf spring setup.

The 87 is the dual shock setup
The 88 is a single shock setup

I have often wondered what constituted the different springs /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

Maybe someone will have a better answer.

My 89 Jimmy had 3 leaf front springs, single shock, no tow package, 350/700r4.

My 90 Blazer had 2 leaf front springs, dual shock, tow package, 350/700r4.

Wasnt the Dual shocks part of a Snowplow Package? Maybe they were used with the 2 leaves exclusivly or something?

my '89 and my '90 K5's both had 2 leaf spring packs and single shocks. Both had the tow package, 350/700R4. Also had an '86 K10 with dual shocks, 2 leaves 305/4-speed.

My truck had 3 leaf springs from the factory with single shocks. It had HD front springs as an option in the glovebox.
