I really want to install traction bars front and rear on my blazer, I was looking at the rear kit from ord, is it any good and is it easy to install, and is there any way I could get 2 sets and use 1 for my front end. Also it's a 91 k5 with 350 and 700r4, what length do I need for the rear,

Do you understand the principle of the how something like the ORD traction bar works?

In the rear the popular setup is to point the shackle up so the traction bar is mounted above frame mount. This is cause the rear axle rotates up under wrap when going forward.

The front wraps down when going forward so the traction bar would need to mounted below the shackle mount to achieve the same thing.

Longer is better when it comes to this but the key is to make sure the bar ( centerline of said bar) is 90* to the shackle if you are using that type

Why does the shackle have to be in compression? Lift/squat and other suspension theory is interesting, but I think in the front of a leaf rig without a ton of lift, that bar is just going to fit whatever packaging space is available and you have to live with the geometry compromises.

I'm not sure the traction bar is needed in front with 48" lift springs because they are so stiff. But if he is running 52's or 56's with a BBC, then maybe so. The shackle doesn't necessarily go perpendicular to the physical tubing of the bar, it goes perpendicular to the effective line from the axle axis to the end of the bar.

Of course, the odds of me coughing up some suspension knowledge that you don't know are pretty slim!

ORD front traction bar kit

ORD has you covered there man.:thumb:

So the ord rears won't work for the front? I hv never installed traction bars, I do understand the basic principle of axle wrap. I'm changin my axles out and will deffinetly need them to hold that rear end in

Very few people install a front traction bar. Front axle wrap exists but for a lot of guys it isn't that bad or they are able to tolerate it.

You can try it but honestly I think there are a bunch of things that will make it hard.

Link suspensions honestly solve that problem though.
