I was installing new pads and noticed there was just a slight amount of grease between the hub cap and the rotor hub. I could wiggle it by about an 1/8" of an inch. Checked the allen wrench screws and all were tight.

Took the Warn hub off and checked inside....don't see anything that out of the ordinary. The large hub snap ring is in it's groove and the middle splined snap ring is also in the groove.

I checked the other side.....and it's doing the same thing and is equally as loose.

Is this normal? I just don't remember my other ones like this but who knows.

Yes, it's still in place.

I did just recently replace the entire hub assembly and rotors from Oreilly's....

New National bearings and seals too

It's normal. The outer hub is kind of floating in the splines.

hmm....I didn't take mine that far apart. I just cleaned them real good and then re-greased every thing.

I only took the locking body apart because I noticed the play it had in it. I don't know how important that piece that I'm missing really is. It looks like it is used to keep the center section aligned in the larger outer body. I'm going to call warn tomorrow and see what they say about it. I'll let you know what they say.

They are always going to have slight movement unless they are engaged. The just float inside the hub and the only thing making it stop is The snap ring holding the inner body to the hub. I just push mine into the hub as far as they will go and Leave them there. The oring is there to keep out contaminants. But the outer dial just kind of sits there. The inner assymbly should have a snap ring on the axleshaft that keeps it pushed down as well. But some people have a hard time getting those to fit and depending on the axleshaft it might not hav that extra groove for it to Be on there.
