Front Wheel rubbing

I’m having an issue with my front passenger wheel rubbing the bracket that the caliper is mounted to. You can see in the pictures the inside of the wheel and the bracket that it is rubbing on. Has anyone ever seen this before? IMG_3133.jpegIMG_3132.jpeg

Since this looks like an older set up I'd look at the wheel bearings. I would also check the other side, especially if you find a bearing problem.

Also, is it only on the top or is it rubbing below the caliper too?

This is definitely an older setup. It’s only on the top side. I’m assuming if the wheel bearings are wore enough then it would cause the rotor to drop just enough that the rim would drag. I don’t feel a ton of slop other than a little in the ball joints. My caliper is also sticking so maybe the rotor play is being masked by that. I think some of this is answering my question as to whether or not new ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods, etc are needed. Thanks for the input.

The weight of the truck would push the rotor up, basically rotating it so you have negative camber. Wheel bearing seems most likely and is easy to check so start there, but could also be loose nuts at the spindle mount or something like that.

I removed the caliper and it does feel like I have a small amount of play in the wheel bearings and ball joints. I’ll get those changed out and see if that helps. It does look like the rotor spins true, so I’m optimistic that nothing is bent. Thanks for the input.

The shouldn’t be any play in the bearings.

Bad ball joints could cause the tire to tilt in or out BUT this would include the brake assembly (everything outboard of the ball joints) so they will not cause the wheel to rub the brakes.
