Don't want to spend a lot on a front mounted for a winch mount. I want to.....
1.) Keep my factory bumper.
2.) I have a brush guard but not for winch that I'm keeping on.
3.) Don't have a welder.
What can u guys come up with or what do u have on ur rig now? Thanks

This guy - http://www.totallynakedauto.com/default.asp - offers a winch cradle that I've seen modified to go behind a factory bumper. Per his web site he's not making stuff at the moment. He's not very active here (see vendor forum), he's more active on facebook.

I don't know of any company that makes a winch mount specifically intended to go behind a factory bumper.

Does not have to go behind can be little lower where the valance is. It in my case was.

I think @swettysblazer recently just put a basic winch plate behind his bumper and cut a whole for the fairlead. He has a license plate bracket over the bumper and it hides the winch nicely.

Look for a used Warn Trans4mer. You'll need both the grill guard and winch carrier. The brush guards that extend out past the headlights aren't necessary. It will mount right over the factory bumper. You'll have to trim a little of the rubber rub strip from the center of the bumper if you have it. My old blazer w/ the full system housing a Warn XD 9000i.

i have had no issues (besides knuckle heads trying to steel it) works like a charm.
the first night i had it in ta couple of people tried to steel it next day welded it in place.

well here is an odd suggestion... put a front hitch on and use a hitch plate winch mount..

I'm thinking of getting this as we have a 2016 JKU stock that we take on the beach... and I could roll the winch between vehicles...

Those are pretty handy , but Do Not side load that setup. Any thing more then about 15-20 degrees from a straight pull will bend the mount and you will have hell getting it out of the receiver.

Basically you don't want to put any pressure on the fairlead rollers.

Maybe use a solid type of mount like pintle hitches have?

honestly its a really easy thing to make. Just a flat piece of steel with 10 holes drilled in it. I used 3/8" since I had it laying around but 1/4" would be sufficient. 4 holes to mount the winch 4 or 6 to mount the plate to the frame. then mount the fairlead to the bumper.
