So for the second time I lost my front driveshaft on a hill. It was in my pasture and I am not sure where the yoke end of the drive shaft went so not sure about the joint but the bolts are broken and straps mangled. Did I let the straps bolts come loose or will it stretch the straps and break the bolts? The yoke looks OK. Just wondering if it is 1410 time or just get new straps and put in the spare shaft.

Im sure others with chime in. If your running 1350 joints, you might try switching to a ubolt style yoke. They seem to hold up pretty well. If your running the smaller 1310s, might be time to upgrade.

The straps stretch and then you just can't tighten them down all the way.

Go to u-bolts or girdles if the yoke is still good. If not just go to 1410 FTW :waytogo:

It was a stock Dana 60 yoke figured out I as wrongbit was a 1310. Ordered a u bolt 1350.

Make sure you are not maxing out the angle and causing it to bind up. On a steep hill most of the weight transfers to the back so there really shouldn't be much stress on the front, but the weight transfer will cause the front suspension to unload and droop causing more of an angle on the joint.
