Hey all, I need to vent a bit, so PLEASE bear with me...... Today (5-23) was my birthday, and a friend bought me a grill guard that I have been wanting for my truck...so I went to install it today, at which time I found out that the 1981 and up Suburban/trucks use a differant front bumper than my 1973-1980 style suburban/truck! GRRRR! :doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah::doah:

Anyone want to buy a grill guard? I will post it in the parts section tommarow after I get a few pictures of it.... It is simular in style to the grill guards found on the Military M1008 trucks, with expanded steel in the center section.. Something like the CUCV Bumper/grill guard too

Happy B-day.

Why not tell your friend that it doesn't fit your year truck and have him return it for the correct one?

He bought it for me from a private seller used.....:doah: at my request to make things worse ! LOL

Well Hell. Definately a difference in the years. Not sure when it started but my 89 has brackets to the frame THEN the bumper to the brackets. I do know my old 76 blazer had front bumper directly to the frame.

Pics

Okay, I guess I am a comp dumbo or something...can not figure out how to post pics in here...grrrr use the link in my signature and go to page two for pics...sorry, best I can do

If I remember the older bumper is much flatter than the new bumper, so you should have enough meat on that guard to modify it and MAKE it fit, then you will really have your first modification on your hand.

why not just get the right bumper...would most likely be cheaper/ easier
