My roommate's '89 Montero broke down on the side of the interstate last night. He's told the engine has seized. While the truck was running, it was known that the tranny was in need of a rebuild (audible knocking sound, and slipping when accelerating). The truck will not have a radio/head-unit in it. Tires are nearly new, no more then 10,000 miles on them. This is a trailer-away vehicle, it does not run. Please don't ask for parts, we don't have time to part it out. We're both moving out of this house in 1 WEEK, and this needs to be gone. I will post up pics very soon.

To bad you guys were'nt closer. I'd pick it up or sell you my V6 I have.:D I have almost the exact same truck I picked up for parts for my Turbo 2 door.:D

Yea, right now, my roommate is in a tough spot.... Sell it, scrap it, or find another motor and tranny CHEAP.

It really is a shame you're so far away.

Hey, are you on any Monty/Raider/Trooper forum boards?? Could you try to help somehow?

The only board I can ever get any good info from is www.4x4wire.com The only other ones I go to for Raider/Monty info are. www.26liter.com, and www.starquestclub.com but those are mainly for turbo swap information and such.

There is a guy in Fla with a transmission for sale, but its a 4 cyl manual trans. http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=941369&page=5&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=1

I can check and see about anyone heading your way that could carry a motor, but I cant think of anyone offhand.

Have you got rid of the truck yet? If not what would be your bottom dollar, drive down from Alabama, pick it up price. Rick

Hey, bro.... What part of AL are ya in? Are ya wanting to part it out, or fix it up?

I priced it at about what I thought was good for a quick-move. So, what're you thinking about a price? What would be good enough to get ya to come down? 'Preciate it, man - get back to me, and let's see if we can't get something worked out. Thanks, again.

I'm moving, and would like to find a buyer with a good home for this.
