Fuel blowing out of top of carb!

Well I hooked up the gas tank, and fuel lines, re installed the carb and fired it up. Then I had a big problem gas shooting out the top of the Edelbrock 1400 where the needle and seat are! This continued several times until I gave up.
What I have done to try to fix this:
1. pulled off carb- disassembled cleaned it.
2. checked the float level
3. added new gaskets.
4. disconnected the vent line (so now open to air)

Help please!~ still blowing fuel out the top and not starting

What's your fuel pressure?

Are you running spring loaded seats?

Did you adjust the float levels or just check it?

It sounds to me like the float level is not correct. It should be about 7/16" when upside down. And about 1" to 1.25" when it hangs.

I don't know but maybe you adjusted the float and improperly bent the tab so it measures correct but the seat doesn't sit correct.

Not sure about the timing, Ill have to check it.
I did check the float level using a 7/16 bit and adjusted the float to proper level.
Ill also have to check fuel pressure.

If the float doesn't float it won't matter how it's adjusted, clean/replace the needle and seat, check to make sure the float still floats, and check your fuel pressure.

After doing some research I have found out: I have cleaned everything but the needle and seat . Now I will have to pull it off the truck again and do that before I do anything else.
