fuel delivery problems?

I cant figure out why my carb is not getting any fuel in the bowls i just dont know ive changed the fuel pump. Ive hand pumped the pump just to see if the pump will pump and it did and it went into my fuel line to my carb. What could be wrong?

Check your filter. Also when you hand pumped it was it hooked up to the gas tank or were you using some container of fuel? Could be sender in tank.

whatabout the filters? if the line before the pump has any leaks it may be sucking air not fuel. if the filters are clean and all the lines are good then the sock on the pickup in the tank may be clogged/collapsed.

It was hooked up to the fuel tank not an external fuel tank. Is the push rod for the fuel pump sensitive or can they break or bend easily?I dont know

Its a pretty thick rod. Tho once you take off pump, should be able to pull it right out.

If all your connections are good... check the pushrod in the engine. Would hate to think the fuel pump lobe on the cam wore down. Ive done it at the valve/lifter ends. That would have ment an oiling problem or a locked/frozen shaft on fuel pump.

So should I look over all of my connections then take out the push rod and then maybe take one of those telescoping mirrors and try to look at the came lobe will that work or not. then if i did flatten my cam then should i put more money into the engine or rebuild my other block. and start all over? Or just pull out the rod and then put a block of plate on and then convert it to electric fuel pump and drive it till it dies. any suggestions

After a week of kicking myself in the butt for about a week of having the same problem, I put gas in the tank. It fixed the problem. The pickup was "picking up" just enough to look like that wasn't the problem, so I looked everywhere else for a whole week. It was my last option before dropping the tank, but I guess I would've figured it out when I did.

So I went to replace the fuel pump with a carter electric and a pressure regulator and come to find out it was just the dang gas. but i guess you could say it was just the gas. thats all it was. dumb a#$

I called myself worse. I've had the truck dialed in for a while, so that certainly couldn't have been it. 1986, I know how you feel.
