Seems the auto parts store do not carry it anymore. My buddy suggested lowes. Anyone else have some suggestions. Whoops I'm a bluebie again. Time to pay up.

I run type 2 marine fuel fill hose on the CC.. it's stupid expensive... and quality... about $10 a foot...

Jess I think I got my 1.25" filler hose from Napa

I always used regular hose. Supposedly it gets brittle and can crack with fuel.... But it only sees fuel when you fill up. No buss full of nuns dead yet.

I think it would still be degraded by the fumes of the fuel.
If that was in a pickup bed I could see it, but not in a pass compartment...I think Jess has the back wall still on his truck, maybe that would be OK for him.

paid out the ass from LMC or ClassicParts, can't remember. Don't buy the vent hose from them, mine was too short :(

Yeah I wouldn't do it for a cell, or enclosed tank, but something outside, like stock blazer setup. I just couldnt justify 30bucks for some hose but I'm a cheapass

I used to get an earfull every time someone asked to buy fuel filler hose at the parts store...itsd usually not hard to find,at better stocked stores and truck supply places, but even back in the 90's it sold for 10-25 bucks a foot...I have used radiator flex hose on my trucks gas tank when I made it into a flatbed instead of keeping it a fleetside bed...it did harden up after awhile, but it never split or leaked...silicone radiator hose is expensive, but holds up well ,but wont be reccomended for gasoline use either....I doubt anything sold at Lowes will hold up long, they may have clear vinyl tubing or pool hose that might fit,but I wouldn't trust it...Best place to get fuel filler hose cheap,is at the junkyard...look for a truck like yours, and check other vehicles you think might use the same diameter hose, often you can find one in good shape and they wont charge you much for it...another option is to use some exhaust pipe or emt conduit bent to the correct shape (or look for a filler neck you can use) and just use 2 short sections of hose & clamps to connect it up,so you wont have to buy more than one foot of it....

I need about 18" of 1.75" for everything to fit nicely. I cut my old one off and I'm making the filler a little different.

Jess, my filler hose was made by Gates...check their website?

I just replaced mine. Mine was like 2 1/4 or 2 1/2" i think. Maybe bigger. No one had it. Couldn't find it anywhere. Then I called a local boat dealer. They had it. I think I paid around $20.00.

I'll call the marinas on monday. My old hose is still good, it is just too short to fit where I want to mount the cap/neck assembly .

it'll more than likely be Shields or Trident brand... I prefer Shields, but not much difference..

this is the stuff i run shields type a2, wire reinforced, cg certified, yada...

A few years ago I bought the hose at the dealer. There was only one left in the northwest. It was about 30 bucks. Maybe there are some still out there.

I recently bought some from a small chain store "salvo auto parts" they had it by the foot, it was like $18 a foot :eek1: and of course for my set up I only needed 6" :doah: I did call around and the local advance auto sold it also, but only in 3' lengths at around $30 IIRC.

Since I was measuring some other stuff I decided to measure what's needed for my suburban too. I got at least 24" of 1.75" id filler tubeing and 2 #28 hose clamps. For the vent is 5/8" 12". I measured from the center of the tank out since I didn't have clear access to the top of the tank without contorting myself and I don't feel like doing that right now.

Thats about what I need. I already have the one for the vent, just need the large filler. I had to reweld the vent as it snapped off when trying to take the hose off. So I just extended the steel line.

Does it need to have bends or be straight?

I worked at oreillys for a few years, they cant get factory replacements but they can get some fuel resistant filler hose from gates. I dont remember if it can be bent or not though, it may only be straight pieces.

If you want to check into make the counter guy dig out the gates book and look through it. I know most parts guys around here dont like using the books so I usually just have them give me the book and I find what I want.

Thats what mine is. it dont' like bends to well...long radius bends ok, but it does kink easily...

Extend your end that has the gas cap with metal tubing and then your hose won't be to short.

Just take it off the vehicle to weld it up.:thumb:
