I have a 1977 k5 Blazer with a 350, the engine was rebuilt four years ago by the previous owner, I was wondering if it is possible that there could have been an aftermarket carburator fitted, and if so would the fuel filter be located in a different spot? I can provide pictures if needed. Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well, the carb will either be a Quadrajet (factor style), Edelbrock, or Holley.

Q-jets have a fuel filter right at the fuel inlet to the carb, as evidenced by the word "FILTER" with an arrow on it right there =))

However, those filters are notorious for giving grief, possibly because people ptu them in backwards, so oftentimes you'll find people have installed an inline filter... which could be anywhere, from the tank to the fuel pump, or (more common) from the fuel pump to the carb.

Pix would be helpful ... we can identify likely culprits that way.

Yeah I think it's an inline then, I will get a pic asap, I just dont have batteries right now

How in the hell is that even running? with all that sediment in there, I'm surprised anything can get through. edit;

Sorry thats mud on the outside, still I'd replace that sucker with somethinga little bigger and made of metal.

Yeah the problem is that it's not running lol, so I just gotta pop that sucker off and go to autozone and get a new one, maybe bigger and better?

Almost any old filter will work, just make sure its installed correctly, and has the correct flow rating, I always go bigger, fuel starvation sucks.

i have always run one of the glass ones with no problems. not sayin it can't happen...just hasn't happened to me. never seen filter holder quite like that one though. keeps them from comin apart i suspect

Well I have a glass one in now, so at least the truck is running again, but since that has come to my attention I ordered that fram one so it should be here in a week, thanks a lot guys.

while youre at it you might want to wash your engine bay/truck. they seem to run better that way

In time, this thing is in pretty rough shape lol, I pretty much got it just to learn how to work on em
