I can not find a place to connect a wire on top of the fuel tank for fuel gauge. (82 k5) there is a pink wire going back there but nothing there to connect it to. guess I will have to drop the tank for a better look, just filled it too damn it. any help would be awesome. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

The pink wire has a rubber end on it much like a tiny spark plug boot. It goes on the steel nipple..see exploded view...

ok, cool and that is a negative connection correct?
the wire was hooked to the tag lights but they never worked. I found the right connection for them in the back got that hooked upthen I was thinking the pink lead was the fuel wire, it carried no voltage. I checked it to ground with and without the key on. I then put it to that nipple and gauge did nothing (it is all the way past full)
I might try to run the wire dirrect. I traced it to the back of the fuse pannel. hell it may not be the right one! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

hey thanks for the pic by the way. good job!

the black line is ground??
pink fuel lead???

I also found a ground back there. its not hooked up either

Yeah, the black wire is actually crimped into the sending unit and grounds to the frame.

No prob on the pic, happy to give back to the CK5 community...

The pink wire IS essentially direct, pegged full is an indication that there is no ground as I recall.
