Fuel Guage Issues

I Put A Sending Unit And Gas Tank From An '87 Onto My '86 K5 To Run The Vortec That I Put In It. I Put In 5 Gallons Of Gas To Get The Motor Running. The photo shows what the guage is reading with 5 gallons of gas in it. My guess is that the guage is receive too much power from the sending unit. Those of you who have dealt with this, please tell me how to remedy this. thanks-Brian

vary comon problem. check the tank /sender to frame rail ground.
