fuel help! stubling under load untill I shift, CCC carb ?\'s

The 86 blazer seems to have a lack of fuel..

While driving, truck is a dog, then under acceleration she will not get any gas. However when I shift and get a lower rpm she wont jolt.

The jolting seems like it is not getting a constant gas flow.

sould this in any way be spark plug wires?

Can I put a non ccc carb on or will the computer crap interfer and not alow th truck to run?

Also the truck sat for 5 years off and on so I imagin the seals in the carb are crap, but I dont want to rebuild it /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

please help /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yes, put good quadrajet and regular hei on there and with stock air cleaner and no one would know. It does sound like fuel pump also , but ignition could also be culprit. If this is gonna be your driver, and you just bought it, just plan on replacing the ignition and fuel pump anyway for peace of mind. Use quality lifetime stuff and forget about it for 12 months, then tuneup again. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

You can't just change the carb....you will need a vaccuum controled HEI dist. I would definantly consider this swap if you don't have to worry about emmissions. Remember though that if you do the swap you will need to get your lock up wired manually.

I live right by him and ran emmissions without my esc distributor and with a Stage 1 q-jet . They just look for smog pump, egr, and vapor cannistor here. I don't think theyd know the difference here. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Fuel pumps can go slowly. I have had it happen.

did you do a full tune up on it yet? Change the oil, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, set timing, fuel filter, etc? If not I would do that stuff. Especially if the truck has sat for 5 years.

I'd second doing a good tuneup.

99% of carb problems, aren't. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had the same problem with a Buick years ago. Turned out to be the fuel filter. Give that a shot, can't be much more than $5 to $10 and if the truck sat for 5 years, it's a good idea anyways.

Does your truck even have a computer? I'm pretty sure computers didn't come into play until the fuel injected motors in 87.

Good Luck,

Mid 80's california( and a few other states) came with a CCC setup. Computer controlled carburetor and ESC distributer. A computer controls that crap, it's a primitive computer but it's there. (think of a black and green macintosh comp) /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif
