Sorry guys if this is a repost of old questions but I couldn't find the answer I was looking for. I am going to be putting together a 1979 sbc bored .030 over. I am planning on making it a 383 stroker with the 5.7' piston rods. I also want to run some sort of fuel injection. I have a 97 silverado and i like how that one drives and handles and I was thinking about going that route. What would you suggest. I am looking on getting about 400+ hp/tq possibly up towards the 450 mark. I was alos thinking of and underdrive pulley set as well as some headers. As a whole what would you guys suggest?

Your '97 is Vortec, to get the efficiency of that system (multi point injection) onto a 383 is going to be pricey, if possible. (thinking the 5.7L Vortec components might be a bit restrictive for larger displacement)

A larger engine will be more powerful than smaller obviously, but getting it's full potential is going to require the ability to feed it. You could do it fairly cheaply with TBI, but then you'll need to get into tuning. Dynamic EFI would be a good route, and some of the aftermarket systems seem fairly easy to tune.

Anything multi-point is going to cost you $$ trying to feed a 383 efficiently. TPI in sstock form is too restrictive for best performance from a 383 IMO, just too much bottom end and nothing up top. Already bad with a 350, even worse with a 383.

So what systems would you recommend. I don't anything about the systems that are available and which ones to go with. If you could recommend a couple and maybe give a link or to that would help out greatly.

I would think the 454 TBI setup (stock) with proper tuning, might get you to where you want to be.

Only ones I can think of other than stock off the top of my head are Edelbrock (pro flow maybe?) or Holley's Projection. I really don't keep up on the aftermarket side, although dynamic EFI's EBL is the "system" that southernspeed here is using, you might search some of his posts in this forum for a link or description. He has been very happy with it, and it does sound cool.
