Your not kidding here. I did my TPI converson almost 2 years ago now and it hasnt run any better then it did with the carb. I am finally getting a chance to work on it again and I am going to get it dyno tuned here shortly to get it nice and reliable.
I noticed you said you have a cam, I belive anything under 14" of vaccuum is hard to burn a chip for a MAP system. Also the later intake (with the 4 center bolts straight down) will fit on earlier heads, you just need to machine the intake. That was the case for me and it was easier then finding just an intake off an earlier system. Painless makes a nice harness and a VSS to go in the T case and then your speedo cable will screw onto that.
