come on come on, spill the beans, what are some of the rumors? like, right now I dont have a license plate light (or mount) should I be worried about this right now or can I wait till I get the time to mount it up right?

Yes. The only people I exempt for this violation are farmers. They never have tag lights and if I see a farm truck with a tag light, that's suspicious.

sometimes I wonder if maybe the cops actually act like they do on Reno 911???

Sometimes it's hard to find a 7' transvestite on crank....................

If you run offroad diesel in you personal truck no cop in the world is going to pull you over and check to see. I'm sure they other things to do. The main enforcement comes from DOT and its directed to semi's.

Exactly. The person I am related to worked for the enforcement arm of the state, working trucks and when she was checking fuel, she had been tasked out to the Infernal Rectal Service. There are highway patrols that do it, but that's there DOT guys. Us regular cops have more important fish to fry.

This is what I know...

...Home heating oil also works good in a diesel to

This is what I know...
Home heating oil doesn't contain the upper cylinder lubricant (sulphur based) and so promotes more rapid wear of Injection pump, valve guides, injectors, piston rings etc.

Also it allows the growth of fungus & sludge in the fuel which clogs the fuel filters on your engine.
I have a customer (school) who are too tight to buy red diesel for their grounds mower and I get a call at least 3 times per year to come and change the fuel filters and bleed fuel system cos of the sludge in the tank. Nice little earner but big PIA.

i worked for a sizmology (sp?) guy 1 summer he had a helicoptor ran on jet A
well when your doing sizmology your tend to get out in the mille of nowhere fast and you move around alot. i was the "chase man" i drove to various places so he could land feul up and maintain his helicopter ( looked like the ones on the tv show m.a.s.h.). well one day i ran out of diesel, 86 6.2 burb with a ats turbo. i radioed to my boss he said "drop the trailer and but about 5-10 gallons of jet A in the tank run to town theres a feul card in the glove box". now this aint a cheap alternitive by any means but it sure as hell woke that burb up. i mean it was like jumping off your moped onto a crotch rocket.
the temp ran about 10* hotter though. but it wasnt till later that i realized it was the only time i drove it without the maintainer trailer. this realy has nothing to do with the thread but thought you might enjoy it.
on to the actual thread, the only 2 times i have ever herd of dot checking a pickups fuel filter for off road diesel 1 is when the truck has an auxillary tank in the bed (supposedly for feuling up farm equipment). the only reason for this one time i have herd about is because he was transporting livestock across a port of entry. BUT 2 you cant let a feul station see you pump it into your tank it has to go into a container. thats the other story i have herd is an actual station turning in a license plate for feuling up with off road.
