I have a 87 K5 Blazer and when I get below 1/4 tank of gas she acts like the fuel filter is pluged and plugs fouled. But I put a half a tank and a some ISO HEET in the tank, sometime with out the HEET. and she runs like a champ. What would cause it to spit and sputter and have no power when it gets low on fuel. I have did this method on several tanks so far so it is a steady problem.

sounds like you have something floating around in your tank and when you get so low it plugs your pumpline.

pull your tank and drain it.

I am actually in the process of selling it to a friend and we are trying to figure out what is wrong with it before he buys it.

TBI blazers have a plastic baffle in the tank that is notorious for breaking free and floating around in the tank and causing the exact problem you're describing. My blazer does the same thing if i get below a 1/4 tank and make a hard corner fast.

I have a similar problem, I let the tank run low and it was putting to the gas station, filled her up and its been putting ever since. I can start the blazer and it runs, idles fine, i can rev it up and its still good. When i put it in drive it goes and then hesitate as if there where no gas. I changed the fuel filter and it looked alitle dirty, also plugs wires rotor cap. Sorry for the hijack, maybe its the same problem.

definitely drain and clean the tank, and blow the lines out. ( or replace them) I'd go ahead and change the fuel pump while I'm in there..also, replace the nylon sock - looking filter that goes over the in tank fuel intake tube.. those can be dissolved by fuel additives that have alcohol or other solvents in them, ( many come in your gas, that you can't avoid) leaving you susceptible to sucking up debris..
