Hey guys looking for a couple fuel pump access hatches to put in the bed of my kids truck. Can't remember who's done some nice looking ones. Please share them if you have pics or a link for a decent one. Thanks

This will give some ideas about the doors, are you doing a regular truck, crew cab or Sub/Blazer?

Well...it's a cough cough '93 F350 crew cab long bed with a 460.

Thank you. That did give me the idea to search marine access hatches.

How hard is it really to lift the bed on one of those? When I think of a pickup bed, I want to be able to fill it with whatever, whenever.

Are you doing a hatch for the side tank or just the rear?
Both. A previous owner cut the bed already. It's gonna get both pumps/senders replaced. It's been sitting since '18/'19 and I don't know any history on the truck. I'm hoping I won't have to drop the tanks.

I was originally going to pull the bed but the bolts look a bit crusty and the floor was already cut by a previous owner.

Pulling the tanks sucks, I did my rear one once and it needs it again already. My bed is coming off tho.
That truck has so much potential!
Good start for sure. I used to have an '89 just like it with a '92 front clip and bed. Sat the same as this one. Mine had a cummins and a 5 speed and a Gear Vendor. All set up to work perfectly together. Could tow whatever you want up the mtns and no overheating or high egts. My kid loved it and that's why he wanted one. Scored this for $2500. Looks like the 460 should run with new fuel pumps I think.

I real carefully made a nice rectangle, cut in the bed of mine, and built a small frame that I welded from underneath that I could build the same plate back down onto. I suppose a guy could weld some hinges on one side and use it like a hatch. Also, for what it’s worth the linked post above wasn’t the first person to suggest the marine hatch, just saying.

Yeah those look like a good way to go. I'd want to get an aluminum or steel version instead of a plastic one since it's a truck bed. The holes that were cut already are not big enough or in quite the right place so I'd have to get a piece of bed floor from a salvage yard if I went a different route. Going to get new senders and pumps then see how it goes.
