so my ac delco decided to leave the chat. I bought a cheap pump and now get to do it twice.
got me another ac delco and hope it works longer than 8 min

Consider a floor access hole. Pretty happy I put one on mine, super easy access now.

Where did you get the pump from? I'm leery of fakes anymore. Won't buy from Amazon or eBay unless it's someplace like summit selling them on those platforms.

Strong suspicion my "Delco" pumps from a few years back are fakes.

I have an AC/Delco pump I think failed (have yet to confirm it) after only about 7,000 to 8,000 miles on it.

guy at napa says these guys are awesome. runs em in his bike race car and daily
lifetime warranty and 65 bucks think ill get one as a spare

You guys who have had ACDelco fail, did it come in an ACDelco box? I have a couple online purchased ACDelco pumps but they came in what seems to be legit boxes with paperwork inside and the pumps have been good so far. I would think a knockoff would just be in a bag with a blank box but who knows. It just seems like a lot of effort to counterfeit a box too.

It would be interesting to dissect one of these prematurely failing pumps. Curious if it’s cheap brushes, cheap enamel wire for the windings or poorly constructed.

Ac Delco is made in china now ............ So how would you tell the counterfeit form real deal ?

The last Delco pump I bought from a GM Dealer somewhere in Albuquerque and had it shipped to me. I noticed it had a silver holographic AC/Delco sticker sealing the box, as did the fuel injector I bought with it. I don't know if they still do that, or what parts it's done on, but I think that's a pretty good indicator it's real. Also you can check for lot numbers and similar things that should be stamped on the box in a different ink than the rest of the graphics. Neither is a for sure, but it would rule out all but the best of fakes.

This pump is an AC/DELCO pump. This is NAPA's Delphi OEM line. They come off of the same assembly line as AC/DELCO parts do. The NAPA part number for this pump is FE0114. I have one in my hand right now that says "Made in China". These pumps have the same failure rate as any pump you can buy these days. The last AC/DELCO pump I bought said "Made in India" Stuff is being manufactured anywhere and everywhere these days.

Mine were in Delco boxes. Ive had two oil pressure switch/senders fail quickly, also in Delco boxes. My two Delco fuel pumps (pics in another thread) with same part numbers were physically different, but I have no way of knowing if that was an age difference, or counterfeit parts.

Somewhat related, Mobis (Hyundai/Kia parts) was having a problem with chinese knockoff oil filters. They too had to go to holographic stickers on plastic sealed boxes to try and make sure people knew they were getting genuine stuff.

Scam parts are usually at least a generation behind on counterfeits. The packaging, design of component, etc. Unfortunately, as with "NOS" stuff, no way to know unless counterfeit parts have known visual cues to go off of, and you know the part inside and out.

It's really just best to stop trying to shop based on price, and buy from reputable retailers, or direct from the manufacturer if possible.

i have gotten conterfeits from summit, they took em back and was like wow that's crazy

was a set of header gaskets

well when i get a chance i am going to cut open the failed ac delco pump and see what makes it tick
No need to actually cut it open. They’re usually held together by screws or tabs that are bent over. Carefully disassemble it so you’re able to reassemble it when you think you fixed the problem and test it out.

New pump came in has the weird sticker
Says made in PRC
Wonder where that is
