Does anyone know if the 86 K5 has electronic fuel pump??? I am trying to install a 454, and I need to know if I need to look into a pressure regulator. I am installing a 750cfm 4150 Holley for the 454, and if the truck has a elec. pump, I'm sure I will have to tone it down some so I don't make the Holley unhappy :-(

Suggestions???? Thanks all!

Looking at the Specs it says that fuel injection started in 87. Going from this info you should have a mechanical fuel pump on the engine. Make sure the 454 has a mechanical pump or you could go with an aftermarket electric fuel pump that puts out about 6PSI pressure. If you want run a higher volume get a 12PSI and run a fuel pressure regulator. To much pressure will unseat the needle valve in the float bowl and cause a flooding situation.

I helped a guy replace his...actually I replaced it while HE watched...on an '86 C20 and it was electric.

I was never lucky enough to see the factory installed 350... I bought the truck minus drivetrain. I spose that I could look for a harness at the tank, right? Could the VIN tell me anything do you think?

That was my next suggestion, look at the tank for wires going to it. If so, then you might be lucky because the orginal had a carb on it and the electric fuel pump will be of the proper pressure. I would still hook up a fuel pressure tester to see how much pressure though.
