Trying to finish up my tbi swap before the weather turns and I have a couple of questions regarding the fuel pump. I chose to run an external pump airtex e2000. Will I be ok running it about 5 ft from the tank on the lowest part of my frame or do I need to get it closer?

Also should I just connect inline with some rubber fuel hose?

Mine is not labeled inlet and outlet, would the side that has the wire terminals be outlet?

Sorry I can't help with the pump, although I just installed an electric pump on my carb'd 78. Mine's a Carter, mounted inline next to the tank, and I used rubber hoses to connect to steel line, but your pump is much higher pressure. Putting a filter inline before the pump would be good insurance.

Actually I posted to ask about your TBI conversion. If you have a link to more info I'd sure appreciate it.

What kind of info are you looking for? I have quite a few good threads saved about tbi. There is a ton of info on this site: http://www.binderbulletin.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47254

I will definately be running an 80-100 micron screen before the pump and a normal fuel filter after the pump. I have a link to a pump that mounts to the block like a mechanical but it is electric and works with FI.

You need to mount the pump closer than 5 feet from the tank. The pump needs to be mounted as close as possible and also as near the bottom level of the tank as possible. Yes you can connect it with some "rubber" fuel hose and even though TBI is only 15 PSI i would still use high pressure fuel injection hose. I'm going to say that the end with the electric connections is the outlet side as that's how they are when they're intank mounted (electrical stuff is nearest the top of the tank and the fuel moves upwards.

Hmm I think I may need to go with an intank pump or the one that mounts in the mech pump spot. Sounds a lot easier :D

You still should change any and all fuel hose to the high pressure stuff. Also the mechanical fuel pump for fuel injected applications is EXPENSIVE.

Do I have to change the steel lines too or just the rubber? My buddy works at autozone still so he can hook me up with the rubber hi pressure line for the cost of the low pressure stuff :D Guess I will just have to drop the tank and see how low I can get this external pump.

Just the rubber lines need to be changed. No need to drop the tank, just mount the pump on the lower inside portion of the frame rail as close to the tank as possible.

Ok sounds good, I read on another post to use a 80-100 micron screen before the pump and a universal fuel filter after the pump? Good idea?

There is already a pick-up sock on the sending unit, there is no need for anything else before the pump unless yours is missing or is bad. It is always good to have a fuel filter after the pump (you need a high pressure filter for the TBI even though it really isn't high pressure 9-13 stock).
