I put a roller block engine in my truck and I can not install a mechanical pump on it. I currently have a electric fuel pump but it runs 125 psi which is too much for my truck. I do have a regulator on it but I still think it's too much.

Which electric fuel pump can you recommend or are using in your rig as the same config as mine????

I am running a Holley Truck avenger 660.

I'm running a stock EFI in tank pump with an inline return style regulator set at 6.5 psi. With the pressure you are running that will be quite a bit of volume through the return line though.

You should prolly hook it back up. I have a holley 14 psi pump with a regulator turned down to 6psi and the rest goes back to the tank. I think 125psi might be a bit much to regulate down to 4-6psi with no return line. Even with a return line I think it is a bit much. $.02

Which Holley pump did you use? Red, blue, black??? How is the noise on it?

Did you use a regulator?

Greg_mgm:
Where did you mount it next to? On which rail? Picture please if u can.

Which carburetor are you running?

I'm running a Holley blue pump (14 psi) into a regulator that drops fuel pressure to 2.5 psi into a Q-jet.

I would avoid the Holley pumps however, they are EXTREMELY noisy even when completely covered in sound insulation.

blue pump

I used the holley blue pump and yes it is very loud. I mounted it right by the transfer case inside the frame rail and I havn't had a problem yet. I actually ran out of gas the other day and when I filled back up the pump took about 3 seconds to prime itself. As far as the noise issue, if you could find a way to dampen the mounting between the frame and the pump bracket then I think that would quiet it down quite a bit. I don't really notice mine much anymore except when it starts hissing because it is pumping air because you don't have an operational gas gauge! :haha:

Cool thanks fellas. I will look into installig a return line but I don't think my gas tank has a return line. Do they all have a return line mount?

What year is your truck? I know there wasn't a return line up until 79-80 or sometime thereabouts. My '83 has a return system.

Mine is an 83 but it was salvaged and I don't know what ear tank the previous owner installed. Someone stole the rig and he replaced parts into it.

I'll try to snap a pic later today.

As far as noise goes, you can hear it better from outside the truck, but inside while driving, road noise drowns out the pump sound.
