I replaced it once aready back 96 or 97 so I know what I'm in for and not looking forward to that, but since I'll have to take the tank out again, this time I'm gonna do the DIY4X shackle flip too.

Might want to check all fuses before you drop the tank, my buddy thought he blew his pump on a wheeling trip last summer. To make a long story short, a blown axle shaft and blown drive shaft later i pulled him back to the trailhead. lesson learned when we checked fuses before the tow we only checked one (didnt know there were 2). Theres an "A" and a "B" fuse. Anyway after dropping the tank and replacing the fuel pump only to have it still not work we discovered the existance of the "B" fuse. Just a heads up

Thats the first thing I checked. Fuse was good.

I actully once had my fuel pump "A" fuse blow out because the fuel pump was fried. Went the fuel pump fried, it grounded out the fuel pump moter windings, which popped the fuse, thus saving my electrical system. I also have a set of DIY4X4 shackle flips, and they are two totally buffed looking pieces of steel. I highly recomend them. :D

I've always just cut a access hole in the floor above the sending unit :). Though my trucks are usually beaters
