Fuel pump wire problem?

I was removing my gas tank the other day to fix a leak, and when I was disconnecting the wires, one of the was pulled out of the connector. Its the little connector that is beside the tubes on the sending module.. Does anyone know if I can buy just the connector or do I have to buy the whole unit? It's a '90 k5 so it has the 4 tube module. Thanks in advance! -Aaron

So you are talking where they pass through the sending unit from inside the tank to outside the tank?

I am unaware of how to fix this, almost no epoxy is made to stick to plastics.

That is not a connector. Those wires are just molded inside that plastic/rubber knob so the tank doesn't leak there. The wires just pass straight through. It sounds like you dropped the tank without disconnecting the wires at the appropriated plug and ripped the wires from the sending unit.

Well the P.O cut the three wires from the plug and electrical taped them together.. So there is no plug. I was removing the tape and pulled a wire out..

I've never looked closely at how they pass through the sending unit. I *suppose* if you could secure the wires VERY well on both sides of the tank passthrough (since they will be subjected to constant vibration), the proper type of silicone would probably seal it and hold. That is a wild guess. Outside of replacing the sending unit, not sure what other option there would be.

Luckily aftermarket ones have come down in price significantly if that ends up being the only viable option. I don't take chances with fuel.

I just went thru this.... the pump hot lead had a break in the passthru, inside the white molded plastic...

luckily I had the one from the other saddle tank I don't use..

but my napa guy was talking $250 for the piece, and it only came as complete unit with a new pump, etc... I woulda been swapping over my Walbro to it anyway..

For example, PN FSU010073 on rockauto is $77.79, the Spectra is another ~$15. AC Delco piece is $245. No idea if any of them come with a pump.

They have come WAY down in price the last few years, at least the aftermarket side.
