for those that have an in tank fuel pump what did you do or will you do when it goes out?

this one went out new years weekend and i replaced it with a cheap autozone stock replacement, it was all ii could get to finish the trip. now the new pump has stopped working i have power to pump and proper ground.

im considering putting a new pump on the frame rail for servicability, and my bed floor is too nice to cut into which was my original thought.

so pros and cons? what did you do?

I don't buy cheap Autozone pumps anymore, that's the main thing...

ONLY factory replacement from Napa or other reputable auto parts store. Airtex = junk...

OH, and I STILL drop the tank. Done it twice already on the Burb, once on the '94 pick-up and several others on friends vehicles. Once you get the process down pat, you can replace them pretty quickly without having to tear things up.

I fully agree. I changed my sons 91 K5 the other day and used a complete sender and pump from Carquest made by Delphi.

Very happy even though it was pricey.... $300.00 if I remember correctly.

Did it R+R in less than 3 hours complete.
