Hey guys I have a small, maybe large issue. My K5 has been sitting in the garage for 2 years, with a half of tank of fuel in it. I dont know much about diesel fuel so what issues do I have here. Do I need to drain the tank and wash it out? If so what do I wash it out with? Is there something I can put in tank to treat it?

I would likely recommend draining the tank, refilling with fresh fuel along with a strong dose of diesel fuel cleaner/additive. Diesel has a really bad habit of growing algae. Also go ahead and buy a new fuel filter and replace it after running a tank of fuel through it.

A guy in our club recently built a CUCV that had been sitting for a couple of years with fuel and didn't bother doing this. He was on his second tank of fuel when it stopped running out on the trail. After cutting open the filter it was plugged with reddish colored algae.

yup on that. it'll grow stuff for sure. the stiff in the lines not so much but in the filter and tank for sure.
