Looking for a decent used fuel tank for my '82 K2500 diesel, used but no leaks is OK,one that was replaced recently would be even better..............................the cheaper the better,as I'm unemployed ,otherwise I'd just assume buy a brand new one and be done with it....looking for one "local" that I could pick up,hopefully,in the southern part of MA,RI,ot Eastern CT....mine is a 20 gallon long bed version but I can make a 16 gallon work, and one for gasoline VS diesel too,the only difference I can see is the filler neck size...

if i recall its only sender unit and filler neck diffrence for gas/deisel and 87 was tray/pan for tbi pump in tank.

i got a new old stock brand new 20 gal unit i would donate to you if we had a way to ship it or if someone payed the shipping to you .

i dont need it as i go tbi 87 tanks for all my trucks i do .

my zip code is 14845 upstate ny /pa boarder area 20min from watkins glen race track.

Yeah,it'll fit either side...I have both sending units I can re-use off my old tanks, they are diesel specific, having a "water in fuel" sensor and a provision for the siphon hoses used to drain water from the tanks...also had a friend give me two brand new straps from a truck like mine--a customer decided not to have its gas tank replaced and junked it instead, told him to keep the straps he ordered,so he gave them to me..........so I just need a tank.................................................................................................Sweet K30,I appreciate your offer, but its doubtfull I'll ever have a vehicle that would make it that far,or the gas it would cost to get there......everything I have available here to drive is a POS that I dont even trust to go 5-10 miles in at the moment--just about flat busted money wise too, thats why I haven't just bought a new tank,or gone boneyard hunting yet................................................................................................So far the tank leak has slowed to a very slow drip, the bar soap I rubbed onto it seems to have slowed it down a lot, plus its close to empty and is parked with the leaky end (front) pointing uphill slightly...the tank could probably be fixed by soldering or epoxy if I yanked it out ,but I hate trying to mickey-mouse tank leaks, usually just removing and replacing one starts another leak under the straps or at the seams, and its a waste of effort and time......truck needs a master cylinder too,and oil cooler lines, the oil pan is still oozing oil too...I dont trust it far from my driveway now......wish I could get some cash somehow and my back would heal enough to let me fix it...

You can have my 20 gallon K20 tank. I'm putting in a blazer tank in the rear. This tank has seen zero winters since it went in. Should pull it in the next week or so. I'll PM you with details. I'm in the North Shore area of MASS. I could even deliver some early sunday morning. I'd be glad to help out a fellow CK5 guy.

only thing is if shipping a tank cant have any smell of fuel in it or possible RED FLAG to the shipper.

thats why i offered my tank as its new never had fuel.

but get what ya can buddy and as i said you can have mine if some one pays shipping as i am dead broke basicly. less than 20hr per week part time job and rest of money to finish my truck vary slowly.

Phreddei,-------you've already helped me out, when you sent me those U-bolts and spring plates awhile back,remember???..--which finally got installed not that long ago--if not for you,my truck wouldn't even roll!.................................................................................................................I hate to be a beggar, but I haven't much choice, being broke...if you get the tank out, and are sure its not a leaker,or might become one soon and want to make the trip here with it,I could give you some gas money probably, for delivering it..--maybe some parts I have you need or want too,I have some things left over from trucks I parted out--anything you need?..--let me know--PM me when you get it out and we'll talk----...........................................................................................Sweet K30,a new tank for free is hard to pass up--if I had the cash on hand,I'd say send it,(or just go get it!)-- and I'd gladly pay the shipping charges...dont know if my truck deserves a brand new one though, since it'll be ready for the boneyard pretty soon anyway.....since it needs the oil cooler lines and other more pressing repairs and parts,I may have to just run the dam thing off a boat gas tank or something, till I can get enough cash to get the "right" tank...for how much I drive it,that might become a "permanent" solution!...I cant risk popping an oil line or having the oil pan lose a chunk of J-B weld putty while driving, but I can live with a mickey-moused fuel tank ,thats not a big deal really..at the moment the fuel tank is probably the least of its worries...:doah:...like to get the biggest problems fixed before winter comes...

I have a 20 Gallon used from 1985 K30. No leaks as far as I know. Already out. You can have it. 20 minutes north of New England Dragway, 45 minutes north of Haverhill Ma.

I apreciate the offer, but your at least 120 miles from me,and it'll be awhile before I have a vehicle I'd trust to go that far in (if ever!)...I'm hoping to find one closer to home if possible...either that or just save up for a new one...seen some listed on Rock Auto's site for 42 bucks and change, the shipping is probably more than the tank will cost though..........................................................................................................................................................................................................I located a few new ones locally for under 90 bucks,if I can get the cash up,I'd just assume go with new if possible...looked in junkyards, there were several decent ones in trucks, one was practically new too...thought I lucked out---but all of them were smushed in from the loader forks ,and they would want 40 bucks for one if I remove it...they're all JUNK now.................................................................................................................:mad:Truck still needs a master cylinder,it leaks fluid from the rear chamber, have to fill it every few days..needs the oil pan replaced, its leaking worse now,at least a qt.of oil daily--I have two that are nice to put on it,but cant do it lying in the driveway with my bad back..,also needs the oil cooler lines replaced, they look ready to burst they are so rottedwhere they go into the block near the exhaust manifold...and yesterday I barely made it home, when the right front caliper decided to stick!.........................................................................................................................................................................................................I took it off and cleaned up the bolts and slides, but I doubt if thats why it was stuck,it wasn't that rusted in the slide area...another thing I need to buy that I cant afford...spent 150 bucks on brake repairs and still cant trust it to stop !!..or the calipers to release when I let off the brakes...I know calipers are fairly cheap, but even 20 bucks is hard to get up nowadays..I had to starve for 2 weeks just to save up enough to fix what I have so far on it,and still cant trust the dam truck past the end of my driveway......................................................................................It might be running off a boat gas tank in the bed,if I cant get a cheap tank close to home...it has bigger more pressing issues than the fuel tank at the moment now..its barely leaking after rubbing bar soap on it and placing a speaker magnet over the weeping area..guy told me that will make any rusty silt in the tank collect there and "clot"...so far its working!..

That is a neat trick.
I have used chewing gum on gas tanks, but never on a diesel, same with bar of soap, but the magnet idea is good. :thumb:
