Planned on mounting a Blazer fuel tank in the aft axle position on our '77 K30 frame. Got the tank, hangars, and skid plate free, but have discovered the tank leaks in two spots, so maybe a change of plans.
What is the best tank to mount in a pickup frame to eliminate the sidesaddle tanks?
Aft axle or mid-ship?
Do I buy a new aftermarket blazer tank?
Don't have firm plans, but will likely be a flatbed of some sorts on back eventually if that makes a difference.
I'm open to suggestions, nothing is set in concrete yet.

Just buy a new tank and proceed. Their like 75 bucks from rock auto.

I'd use a stock-type tank as the senders are easily interchanged and the other plumbing should be close to what you need, makes it easier than something other-branded or exotic.

As I recall, the pickup frames are pretty straight under the bed, so the Blazer tank should fit at either position.

IIRC, the 31 gallon and 25 gallon only differ in height, so unless you're gonna do a really low flatbed, no reason to go with the smaller tank.

There's also a 41 gallon tank for Suburbans which might have to go sideways to fit. The trick then is routing the filler hose in a way that's convenient to your bed.

LMC has all the tank dimensions if you wanna measure before you buy.

Buddy put a 31 gallon K5 tank in the aft position in a '66 sitting on an 80's C/K pickup frame, don't see why it would be different.

If you are going to beat on it, I'd recommend the smaller tank...he's already crushed the 31 gallon. I believe it was driving over a large log.

As mentioned prior, unless you have a reason to do different, the factory tank replacement makes more sense.

Mid-ship mounted Blazer tank on a pickup frame? Anybody have any experience or suggestions with this? Pictures?
Just want the tank in the most out of the way location.

I mounted the Blazer tank in my K10, positioned in the back with a blazer skid plate. You can browse my build thread for pics but it was a pretty simple job using the Blazer pickup/sender.

skunked,
what did you do for shock mounts? The right hand side shock mount is in the way.
Thanks,
Brad

My shocks are inboarded using the diy4X kit.
I was looking at the Diy4X shock absorber inboarding kit http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=118 , and inboarding kit lower shock mounts http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=119 earlier today.
Need to look at the Blazer that I stole the gas tank off of to see if those rear upper shock mounts could be put on my K30 frame. I didn't remove the tank myself so don't have any idea.
