so was out playing around the other day and on the way home, my fuel gauge went all the way past full almost laying on its side, and doesnt ever move.. and i know i dont have that much gas.. what could this be? the sending unit or something? btw 82 k5 w/ 31 gallon tank.. thanx

I have the same problem on my 90 K5, I had an extra fuel gauge, so I tried that, it made no difference. I ordered a new sending unit from LMC Truck, it should be here tomorrow.

Same thing happened to mine, the ground wire comes off and it goes to the 3 oclock position.
oh really?? this is what mine is doing! tell me more about "said ground wire" where, and how do i fix it? thanx!! :D

The ground wire comes from the sending unit on top of the tank and attaches to the frame right in front of the driver side rear tire. If it is connected still, try taking it off, brush the rust off the frame around the bolt and reataching. If its not connected, connect it
