I have a 1988 V-10 Suburban w/40 gal tank. My manual shows a part number of 25090873 for what is called the Fuel Tank Meter Assembly. I haven't tried this part replacement before and can't find this p/n at the discount GM dealers is use on-line. Can anyone help or explain. Thanks.

Typically that means the part is discontinued. :(

That seems odd, but not impossible...a 1985/86 40 gallon sender is still showing as valid at gmpartsdirect.com.

Double check the number, and also call your local dealer parts department...sometimes they will be able to locate one sitting in inventory somewhere even after the part has been discontinued.

Places like gastank.com carry all sorts of senders, if GM doesn't have it, they might.

Yep, discontinued. For the most part GM makes parts and dealerships will carry parts for 10 years. Sometimes you can get lucky and find a part at a dealership, but you'd have better luck with the sites Dorian listed.
