I broke the plastic clip that runs the wire throught the top of my gas tank sending unit. I by passed the plastic contector by splicing the wire togther and sealed the hole once occupied by the connector with Permitex Black OEM GM style sealent. I also wet-sealed the splices with sealant. You guys think it'd be okay (safe) to run like that? Will the sealent withstand and occasional spash of fuel or should I go try to find a junk yard sending unit?

Gas will eat the RTV after awhile--J-B Weld will work though--but if you can get a new(or used )sender, that would be the correct way to fix it--even J-B Weld isnt always permanent when exposed to solvents for a long time--I know pulling the tank is pain, but gas leaks are dangerous and expensive--at 2 bucks a gallon,I make sure all I buy gets to the carburetor!. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
