what years do they put the fuel pump in the tank, I need one of these's fuel tanks here in the bay area so far haven't been able to find one around here.

87-91 not sure if later ones will work or other applications.
Probably a better bet to buy one. About $130 new, shipped to your door if you look around online.
Don't know why you need one (either the injection and you don't have an injected tank, or yours is broken) but if you don't know, the stock tanks use a plastic baffle that is bolted to the floor of the tank. With age and abuse *most* are broken by now, and it's not worth buying one of those tanks with a broken baffle, unless you get lucky and the sending unit itself is still good, since spares of those are ALWAYS good to have.

don't have a injected tank yet and also need the sending unit to put the pump on.
In that case if you can find an injected tank in good shape, go for it.
I wouldn't pay $5 for a setup though if I couldn't pull the sender out and inspect the baffle. If the baffle is broken, typically it has destroyed the ability of the sender to function properly, even though it looks perfectly fine. (it sloshes around with the fuel, hitting the sender)
I've heard the senders have come down in price at autoparts stores, I believe GM still has them, but in the $3-400 price range.

I searched for gas tanks and I can get a new one for 113 and a new sending unit for 103.

Unless you are going with the small tank, you've got the wrong part. The part for the 31 gallon tank is on page 2, and is $177.
Ridiculous price considering the 22 gallon one is just shorter yet $74 less, however, still a decent price for a new sending unit.

I was thinking my 84 came with a 25 gallon
It can be either...just the smaller tanks seem rather uncommon.
I couldn't stand driving with the smaller tank, although I guess the gallons contained aren't THAT much different. But if buying new, I'd consider it. If you get 10 miles a gallon, how much further would the extra capacity get you between fill-ups?

Try living with a single 16 gallon tank and then complain.
At 9-11MPG, I can see it. Even duals at that MPG (basing that off my dads 454) is pretty painful. But when a 31 gallon tank is so common, why not use it? (short of the $70 more expensive sending unit!)

Yea I'm going to go with the 31 gal.tank. although I'm hoping it gets at least 15mpg with this tune port injection, so the 25gal wouldn't be to bad.

I've got a lot of space where my spare tire carrier used to be, do you think I could slap a 31 gal tank in there? If so, what would I find one in at a junkyard? Is there a way to tell by looking at it?
31 gallons were in K5's and Suburbabns. Easy to find.
I know people have put those tanks in trucks, but if you search, not sure it will come up.
Worst part I guess is figuring out how to rig up the fill neck. Still workable I'm sure.

My first run got me 14.4MPG.
Not real happy to be honest, but then again, I did over an hour on logging roads, did about 200 miles of freeway @ 65MPH, and beat the HECK out of it in town. So perhaps with just freeway usage, it will go up quite a bit.
With the carb the same truck was getting 10-13 in the city, hwy best of 18.
Plan to take an all freeway trip tomorrow of about 100 miles, so I will keep my foot steady, and see what happens.
Still need to fine tune the system...this engine is quite different from stock, and although it runs really well, there are a multitude of things I'm going to change PROM-wise to make sure it's setup optimally.
