Who has done, or been involved in a full convertible conversion to a 76-91?

Was it worth the work? From articles I've seen, it doesn't look that difficult.

I've seen several 73-75 K5's around that are being parted out recently and I'm interested in doing the full convertible on my 83.

It just depends on how nice you want it to be. If you wanted it to appear stock it would take more time & money. The doors are the biggest deal IMO the full vert rigs have cut down doors that have gussets added into the space where the B post is, a little plastic cover over that, & a different rear window track.

If you had a donor rig with good doors, windshield frame & a top, it would not be bad.

What about additional support in the frame since there is less structural rigidity after removing the cab top?

Yes you would need to add a cage or build rocker boxes like the original ones had. Something to re-inforce the cab.
