Full Restoration 1982 K5 Blazer

started as a stock k5 that needed a lot of work, fully restored now and getting ready to do engine swap.

This is what i started with, not terrible bad seats carpet and dash. door panels were also faded badly

removed the carpet to find the rocker and floor pan to be rusted on both sides.

Got the pans replaced and decided to go with linex instead of carpet for durability and easy cleaning. also did the door panels and metal part of the dash, really like this, looks great imo and saved a ton of money on door panels.

I didnt like the chrome so i removed most of that and the side steps because they made the truck look low.

had the seats reupholstered, went with sliver/white carbon fibre design.

Switched to a soft top, was one of my favorite things ive done. also lifted 2.5 in with a rough country kit.

Got it painted, new 15'' american racing baja wheels on 33'' all terrains, i think it is the perfect ammount of lift and tire size, high but not enough to mess with any major drive shaft angles or anything like that. Paint was a inexpensive single stage i had done just to make it all one color after i replaced a fender and switched to the truck tailgate without the HEAVY window that barely worked.

Here is the most current picture, the outside is pretty much done, and i am now about to do a ls swap to a 5.3 l59 vortec engine.

Donor truck i got just for the engine, got a VERY good deal on it and it was really nice to know that it is running well and strong. Going to pull it soon, let me know if anyone was any suggestions on what i should replace while its out. going to put in in the blazer with a th350 for now until i can afford a new 4l60e.

Thank you! Yes, i had it most of summer and its been awesome, love being able to roll the sides up and not have to deal with the heavy hard top

Wow, our trucks are VERY similar! one of the best things for the interior, way cheaper than new door panels, looks great, and more durable, would highly recommend

Been a while, but got the 5.3 swap wrapped up about 2-3months ago. Night and day difference, so much more fun to drive, starts up every time and haven’t calculated mpg but it’s somewhere 12-15 and that’s with the 3 speed trans and a heavy foot. New exhaust all in. Rewired the stock 5.3 harness and it actually works haha

First time I had the engine in i brought it to the trans with the bolts and I had to force it, that ended up freezing the engine up. Pulled it back out, dropped trans and t-case and put them back in as one piece

All buttoned up except wire loom. Runs great, only problems I need to address is a fluid leak between the transmission and tcase adapter on the tcase side not sure what’s causing that.

Looks awesome! I'm about to start my '87. Where did you find the front/rear bumpers? I can't seem to find anyplace online for aftermarket offroad bumpers.
