IN A JUNKYARD, UNDER A TRUCK*N E Rust Belt
Among the junk I've collected, is a front axle off a '77 3/4T Sub. It has floating front axles. I guess if I put these on another truck, I'd install manual hubs. What can I learn about this axle?
Next are the wheels from my '79 3/4T 2wd. They're 16.5 and WIDE! Why are all the 16" rims, even to current, so skinny, compared to the 15" Rallye Wheels?
The manual hub is on a rusty '85 1/2T I saw in a field. Not the usual variation...

dana 44. 8.5 inch ring gear.

last year for dana 44 was 79 or so.

advance should have the parts, or can get the parts if you know what you are looking for and can find a counterperson worth a crap.

dunno on the brakes.

The Dana 44 looks like the fr axle on my '83, and '87... just coincidence? I'll check www.warn.com for man hubs... But I like the jumbo knob on the above picture. I'll try and buy the hulk. I have a similar set elsewhere from SEARS, I think... Easy grip, good w/gloves! :eek1:

Will these fit the Dana 44?

Those are internal hubs, that one takes external hubs

External hubs actually have a spacer between the hub turn dial knob and the bearing hub on the spindle

thats the right hub for the 8 lug d44 in the first picture.

if you run one of these, check & tighten the 6 3/8" bolts EVERYTIME YOU PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE! They back out like nobodies business, loctite, lock washers, nothing has kept mine in, so i just tighten them every time.

Dually fenders, but not a dually... Any clue?

Those are not dually fenders, they are made to look like dually's.They make a kit for the burbans, put dually wheels on a single axle with these fenders.

Also the wheel's that you have the 16.5's are 8'' wide ,16's are 6.5 .most of the 8'' wide came on camper special trucks

MileMarker 423 hubs for my '77 3/4t Dana 44?

Right on! the deep-dish wheels came with my CamperSpecial '79 3/4t. Learn something new everyday! :wink1:

Next question... MileMarker 423 hubs. Are they the ones that will fit my floater fr axle? Partz 4 sale are 19 spline. Says to '77 and have plasticy spacer. Just want to make sure...

More hub questions...
Are MileMarker (StreetMaster) 302 the same as 103? The listing says 1/2 PU, then Jimmy/ Sub. I just took Warn hubs off my '86 1/2T 'Burb and popped 'em on my '87 3/4T 'Burb. And they sure look like my '83 1/2T PU...

Kinda off topic, but all front axles are full floaters. I am assuming you are calling this one a floater becuase of the hub. Full floating simply means the weight of the vehicle rides on the bearings on a spindle. Semi floating axleshafts support the weight on the shafts themselves 10b 12b and the 9.5" 14B. Just thought I would clear that up for ya.:D
