Giver of not a single damn...
I'm having a dilemna of sorts and I can't ask the Mrs. because she just rolls her eyes so y'all can be the voices of reason for me.
I have a 1972 Pontiac Ventura II with 68,000+ original miles on her that my G-pa gave me. He bought the car a few years before he passed away and he never really liked it so it became mine. In the years since, I've replaced all of the suspension and tie rods, ball joints, idler arm, etc. and I added an Edelbrock intake and 1406 carb and a Mallory Unilite distributor. She runs like a raped ape, but she looks rough. Both quarters are starting to rust out, the interior is shot and the paint shines like cement. IMO, it's the ultimate sleeper because so many people thinks it's a POS until they go up against it and get whooped.
Anyway, I've been looking at her over the winter realizing how much it will take to get her looking like she did in her prime and I'm not sure I want to do the work. It's kind of a hassle to get in and out of, it's not terribly comfortable and I have so much planned for my Suburban that I don't know when I'd find time for it in the near future. I talked to a friend of mine and told him I might sell it and he asked me "how much?". When I told him $2500 he told me he'd buy it.
I thought about selling it and using the $$ to fund the Suburban project with a 4" lift, 35's and all of the extra's like frame brace, new tie rods, etc. My wife tells me I might regret it later, but I'm not so sure anymore since our Suburban is the subject of my obsession. It's comfortable, gets better mileage than the Pontiac and can go places the car can't and Debb and I can take Katy and the dog with us somewhere and have a lot more fun as a family.
So what say you? Keep the fast as hell muscle car that needs work, or sell it to build up a nice Suburban into a nicer, more offroad capable rig that can haul my family to some fun adventures?
P.S.
I'll get pics of the car in the AM and post 'em up here.
